University of Ghent, PhD Scholarship at Department of Movement and Sports Sciences, Belgium

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a MSc (or equivalent degree) preferably in Physical Education/ Movement Sciences, and with a strong interest in the exercise physiology and biomechanics of running. Research activities will include NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectroscopy and imaging analysis, exercise testing, motion analysis, ultrasonography, etc. and the study subjects are (elite) athletes. A background in track-and-field is an advantage. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Candidates should be able to work independently and in a team.

The successful candidate will be offered a full-time Ph.D. position for four years in the research project, which is funded by the Research Program of the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO). The applicant must be eligible for PhD studies and will enroll in the Doctoral School Program of Ghent University. The candidate shall devote his or her time primarily to their own research studies.

The research will be carried out at the Department of Movement and Sport Sciences and the Department of Radiology at Ghent University, but the successful applicant will also work in close collaboration with the Department of Laboratory for Functional Morphology, University of Antwerp
