Postdoctoral Researcher in Transonic Computational Fluid Dynamics, CSIR, South Africa

CSIR Defence, Peace, Safety and Security (DPSS) unit has a one-year temporary position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Aeronautics Systems (AS) competency area. The position exists within the Power and Propulsion research group and it is based in Pretoria. The competency area works on the design and analysis of aeronautical systems. The area is split into groups focusing on Experimental, Computational and Applied Aerodynamics, Power and Propulsion and Aero-structures and Facility maintenance and development. Within these research groups, a wide variety of research is conducted, including wind tunnel experimentation, structural design and analysis, non-destructive testing; Computational Fluid Dynamics, turbo-machinery, aero elasticity and flutter prediction, optimisation and flight dynamics modelling.

1.A doctoral degree in aeronautical engineering. 2· A minimum of two to three years’ experience in experimental aerodynamics and CFD. · 3.Must have strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
