PhD Research Positions in Humanities and Social Sciences at Catholic University of Leuven, Netherlands

We offer an employment as full-time PhD researcher starting 2011, October 1st for 2 year, renewable with 2 years. The research group Work & Organisation focuses on empirical research in the domains of (comparative) industrial relations, labour markets and employment, and organisation studies. Within the sphere of industrial relations and labour market studies, the focus is on themes such as flexibility and security, employee representation, multinational companies, and trade unions. Methodologically, the group engages in case studies and qualitative methods as well as survey research and mixed method designs.

-The candidate should possess a high educational (preferably MA level) socio-economic background with a particular focus on labour studies more generally. – He/she should show a good knowledge on industrial relations and labour market institutions and processes, preferably at the comparative European level, as well as an understanding of social policy issues, particularly employment issues. -He/she should also have a sound understanding of social science research methods, both qualitative and quantitative. -A very good knowledge of English at both spoken and written level is requested in order to develop the Doctoral programme. -For this reason, if the candidate could show the undertaking of a high score IELTS or TOEFL test it would be appreciated. – The knowledge of both French and Dutch would be also preferably requested, because of the countries where the project foresees to develop comparative analysis.
