Neurosciences Victoria Brain and Mind Scholarships 2012 Inaugural Scholarships, Australia

The inaugural Neurosciences Victoria (NSV) Brain and Mind Scholarships will commence in 2012. These awards are to encourage graduate research as a viable option in clinical neuroscience and related disciplines by providing support to clinical researchers and allied health professionals at Victorian institutions. The awards will be biased towards original discovery research, to encourage connectivity between the basic and clinical sciences.

-The Scholarships are transitional awards that will be awarded to students who are clinicians and health science professionals (broadly defined as a person with a history of patient contact and working under a Professional Board) entering PhD or MD degrees without an NHMRC (or equivalent) scholarship. -The Scholarships will allow up to one year’s research activities whilst an NHMRC (or equivalent) application is developed. – The Scholarships are typically open to Australian citizens or permanent residents enrolled or in the process of enrolling in a graduate research program at The University of Melbourne, Monash University or Swinburne University. -The research in the neurosciences and related fields is to be undertaken in a Victorian research institution (one of the above universities or their affiliated medical research institutions and public teaching hospitals) -The Scholarships are to recognise and support outstanding students who have completed a relevant degree (eg medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, psychology or other health-related science degrees) and have been accepted into, but before commencement of, a PhD (or equivalent) program in a Victorian institution to pursue a research project in the neurosciences and related fields.
