Harlech Scholarship at New College, Oxford in UK, 2014/15

The Harlech Scholars’ Trust is funding graduate scholarships at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University in the USA and UK. The duration of the scholarship is one academic year and it is not renewable. Unmarried USA students are eligible for this graduate scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition and fees, round-trip air travel between Boston and UK, living expenses. Application must be submitted via post by October 25, 2013.. The Harlech Scholars’ Trust, founded in 1986 to commemorate the memory of the late Lord Harlech with the creation of an endowed scholarship between Harvard University and New College, Oxford, which is Lord Harlech’s alma mater. Alternating each year, the Harlech Scholarship is awarded to a Harvard student to attend New College and for a New College student to attend Harvard. For the academic year 2014-2015, the Harlech Scholarship will be awarded to a Harvard student to attend New College, Oxford. For Harvard recipients, the Harlech Scholarship provides an assured place at New College, Oxford, for which a separate application for admission is not necessary. The award is for one academic year and it is not renewable. The Harlech Scholar will have the status of a Visiting Student at New College. Visiting Student status is reserved for those students who wish to pursue a particular course of study for one year and to become a member of the College without reading for a degree.. This scholarship is for pursuing graduate degree level at Harvard University and New College, Oxford in USA and UK.

Who can apply to this scholarship?  
· Members of the Harvard College Senior Class are eligible to apply for consideration, as are graduate students enrolled in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences who have already completed at least one year of graduate study at Harvard at the time of application.
· Only unmarried candidates will be considered.
· Applicants must be citizens of the United States.
Benefits of the scholarship: The scholarship covers tuition and fees for the course of study at New College as well as the cost of round-trip air travel between Boston and the United Kingdom. In addition, the scholarship provides a stipend for living expenses. The stipend for the Harvard student at New College for the 2014-2015 academic year will be at least £12,900. The stipend is paid to the recipient in four (4) equal installments: upon arrival at New College, prior to the Christmas recess, prior to the Easter recess and at the end of the academic year. The recipient is responsible for paying the cost of his/her room at New College.
